Gerald J. Cassano

We are sad to announce the passing of our father, Gerald J. Cassano, a proud veteran who honorably served as a Specialist in the United States Army. He passed away peacefully on October 31, 2023 at the age of 82.

Born and raised in New Jersey before heading south in 2021 to Longs, SC. He attended Newark College of Engineering and was an Electrical Engineer throughout his career at Merck, Johnson & Johnson, Nabisco, BASF, and Enercon. He enjoyed fishing, cooking and was an avid history buff.

Gerry was preceded in death by his wife Antoinette Cassano, parents Josephine and Rocco Cassano, brother Vito Cassano, and loving goldens Dryfus, Tucker, and Teddy.

He leaves behind his son, Brian Cassano and Stacy Brady (FL); daughter Renee Ollerenshaw and husband Jeff Ollerenshaw (NJ); daughter Donna Poust and husband Richard Poust (PA); sister Lorraine Guzzo; brother Richie Cassano; and partner Ruth MacDonald. He is also survived by 6 grandchildren Adam, Jacob, Melissa, Elizabeth, Ginalyse and Dustin.

A private ceremony for immediate family will be held in Little River, SC. A celebration of life will be scheduled in March 2024.

In lieu of flowers, donations can be made in his name to Shriners Hospital or St. Judes Children’s Hospital.
