

Harold “Hal” Lawrence Schneider, age 89, peacefully passed away on Saturday, January 17, 2026, at McLeod Seacoast Hospital in Little River, South Carolina.
Hal was born on June 10, 1936, in Herndon, Virginia, to the late Jacob Lawrence Schneider and Hazel Grace Schneider. After graduating from high school, he attended Virginia Tech before proudly serving his country in the United States Army.
Hal was a skilled and honest mechanic, former owner of Dranesville Exxon, and Service Manager at Dulles Shell in Sterling, Virginia, for over 25 years, retiring at age 87. He was a “leap first and worry about the landing later” kind of man. Known for his warm smile, quick wit, and willingness to go the extra mile, he made everyone feel welcome. He loved dancing, playing guitar, and collecting stamps and coins. His warmth, humor, and adventurous spirit will be deeply missed by all who knew and loved him.
Hal is survived by his former wife, Mary Cecil Schneider; his children, Joel David Schneider, Timothy Lee Schneider, and Cynthia Ann Schneider; his grandchildren, Amanda Marie Lilly and Melissa Maria Schneider; and his great-grandchildren, Kaelyn, Keegan, and Thomas. He is also survived by his siblings: Nellie (Peggie) Gertrude Boggess, William Schneider, Robert Schneider, Patricia Garner, and Pamela Rhodes.
A graveside service will be held at Florence National Cemetery. SC on Thursday, February 12th at 11:00 AM
