Harry “Mickey” McMahon, 82, went to be with his Lord and Savior on Saturday, January 7, 2017.
Mickey was born in Cincinnati, OH, on January 6, 1935 to the late Howard James, Sr. and Anna Westerbeck McMahon. He served his country as a member of the United States Army for 2 years, after which he was employed by the Cincinnati Enquirer from his youth to his retirement. During his retirement years he worked for Walmart for 9 ½ years and volunteered at Helping Hand in North Myrtle Beach during the last 6+ years of his life. He was also a member of Our Lady Star of the Sea Catholic Church and the Catholic Order of Foresters.
He is preceded in death by his parents and 6 brothers: William, Howard, Edward, Robert, Jack, and James.
He will be dearly missed by his loving wife of 57 years, Dolores Gesotti McMahon, 2 sons, Jeff (Marcia) and Mark, his brother, Jerome (Lucille) and 4 grandchildren, Lauren, Austin, Zachary and his mother, Lori Stiles, and Benjamin and his mother, Robin McMahon and sisters-in-law, Dorothy and Adele. He will also be missed by his faithful canine companion, Shadow.
He will be remembered for always putting others first: be it making personal sacrifices throughout his lifetime for the betterment of his family, for being a Little League coach, for volunteering for those in need, for making a home for rescue pets, for that spontaneous laugh, and last, but not least, for making his wife, his love, Dolores, his first priority in his life.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Helping Hand North Strand, 2501 Long Bay Rd., Longs, SC 29568.
A Memorial Service will be held in Loveland, Ohio later this year, tentatively on April 8th, 2017.
