Howard Irvin Kingman Jr.

Howard I. Kingman, Jr., 92, passed away on Sunday, April 26, 2026, at the Legacy of North Myrtle Beach. Born on November 27, 1933, in Washington, DC, he was the son of the late Howard and Evelyn Alvey Kingman.

Before attending the University of Maryland, where he received his engineering degree, Howard proudly served in the United States Air Force. He married Nancy Hall on February 15, 1953, in Maryland and started a family the following year. Howard had a lengthy career with NASA where he worked as an Electronic Engineer until his retirement in 1997. Following his retirement, he and Nancy moved from Calvert County, Maryland to Little River, South Carolina to enjoy retirement. Howard joined the Calabash Elks Lodge where he was a life member. He began a second career with Lowes Home Improvement in North Myrtle Beach where he worked for 18 years after assisting with the opening of the store.

Following sixty years of marriage, Nancy passed on May 16, 2013. Her death left Howard heartbroken, but God blessed him by placing another love in his life, Nancy Verost, and they were married on August 6, 2015. Howard and Nancy enjoyed traveling and shared over ten years of memories before his passing.

Surviving are his children, Darryl M. Kingman (Roanna), Valerie D. Friese, Dawn M. LeDonne (Ron), Todd H. Kingman, Tracey L. King (Bobby); stepchildren, Wayne Verost (Marianne) Kathleen “Kate” Verost, Doug Verost (Amira); numerous grandchildren; great-grandchildren; step-grandchildren; and step-great-grandchildren. Howard is also survived by his faithful four-legged canine companion, Buttons. He was preceded in death by his son-in-law, William “Bill” Friese and stepson, Glenn Verost.

The family will receive friends from 11:30 until 12:30 on Friday, May 1, 2026, at Lee Funeral Home and Crematory, 11840 Highway 90, Little River, SC 29566. A funeral service will follow at Southern Palms Memorial Park, 5000 Highway 17, S., North Myrtle Beach, SC at 1:00 p.m.
