Jack L. Taylor

Jack was many things in his life, a storyteller, adventurer, and giver. Jack and his siblings grew up in poverty; this impacted how he lived his life until he died. Jack learned to work and work hard at an early age, and he embodied the entrepreneurial spirit from the beginning: starting with a paper route at only nine years old. He then learned sales techniques as a Regional Sales Manager for Southern Bell. Jack took his knowledge and truly began his entrepreneurial life; he owned a restaurant, a Century 21 Real Estate office and taught real estate classes at night at Rowan Technical College. He and his brother David started a small moving and storage company, Taylor Brothers Moving and Storage, which transformed into Advance Bonding and Storage, which is still in operation today. His last company was a hotel liquidation and restoration business.

Jack and his siblings grew up without a father, creating a lifetime, deep bond with his brother and sisters. He felt an early, profound responsibility for their happiness and welfare, leading to many travels with the Taylor clan in tow. He decided to become a certified scuba diver and took the entire family to Hawaii for some scuba diving. He and his wife, Barbara, had many adventures on his yacht. They traveled down the intercoastal waterway by boat to Coco Beach, FL; he boated to the Bahamas, then spent a great deal of time in Costa Rica. He was a self-proclaimed pirate, even down to the parrot, Jackson. He was an animal

lover and truly believed in rescuing animals, owning many in his lifetime.

Throughout his life, he helped the less fortunate. He and Barbara, a teacher, often bought Christmas for entire families of her needy students. While working in Florida, he took a Sunday off to take his whole crew to Disney World simply because they had never been. He would try to give homeless people a hand, even letting a few stay with them in their home. We never knew who was coming to Christmas dinner. As recently as December 6, Jack was on his way to lunch and ran into a neighbor; knowing he was a lonely widow, he brought him to his great-grandson’s birthday lunch.

Jack lived his life to the fullest and was always ready to lend a helping hand to anyone in need

Survivors include his loving wife of 57 years Barbara Taylor; son, David Taylor; daughter, Tanya Smith (Greg); brother, David J. Taylor (Judy); sisters, Sue Widenhouse (Chuck), Vickie Taylor; grandson, Christian; great-grandson, Case.

A memorial service will be held at 12:00 pm on December 29th, 2022, at Hartsell Funeral Home.
