James M. Crowley

Father Jim was born on November 3, 1949 in Lowell, MA.

Son of the late John J. and Mary T. (Higgins) Crowley.

He attended Keith Academy in Lowell and later the Oblate College in Washington, D.C., where he earned his B.A. and Master of Divinity degrees.

He was ordained on September 26, 1987 by Archbishop Philip Smith, OMI, for the Congregation of the Missionary Oblates of the Blessed and Immaculate Virgin Mary.

During this time his assignments included; Associate Pastor at St. Joseph's Parish, St. Petersburg, FL, Associate Pastor at Immaculate Conception Parish, Lowell, MA, and Pastor at St. Francis Xavier, Miami FL.

On June 16, 2001, Fr. Jim was incardinated into the Diocese of Charleston, and over the last 23 years he served as: Pastor, St. Ann's Parish, Florence, Administrator, St. Marks, Newberry and St. Boniface, Johanna, Sacramental Priest, Holy Spirit Mission, Laurens, Administrator, Our Lady of Perpetual Help, Camden, Pastor of St. Paul the Apostle, Spartanburg, Pastor of Our Lady of Lourdes, Greenwood, Parochial Vicar, St. Francis by the Sea, Hilton Head, Parochial Vicar, Our Lady Star of the Sea, North Myrtle Beach and Catholic Church of the Resurrection, Loris.

Fr. Jim officially retired in 2021, but continued to assist at Our Lady Star of the Sea and Catholic Church of the Resurrection.

He will be truly missed by many priests and parishioners alike.

A Mass of Christian Burial will begin at 11:00 a.m. on Wednesday, May 22, 2024, at Our Lady Star of the Sea Catholic Church, 1100 8th Ave. North, North Myrtle Beach SC

Inurnment will take place in the memorial garden of the church.

Father Jim is survived by a brother, John Crowley, and his wife Mary Lou, a sister, Maureen Ouellette.

Two nephews; Matthew Ouellette and Michael Ouellette. A niece, Erin Crowley.

In lieu of flowers the family suggests memorial contributions be made to Our Lady Star of the Sea Catholic Church.
