James Vincent Deveney

James Vincent Deveney, age 71, passed away on Saturday, September 12, 2026. Born on September 26, 1954, James was the son of the late Marie Dugan and the stepson of the late Edward Dugan. He was the devoted husband of Louise Maiola Deveney, whom he married on August 25, 1979.

Following his retirement from the Federal Deposit Insurance Corp. in 2013, James and Louise moved to Little River, South Carolina, from Chantilly, Virginia. He was a faithful member of Our Lady Star of the Sea.

James found genuine joy in life’s simple pleasures and shared moments—enjoying trivia and karaoke, and spending time on the golf course as an avid golfer. He also worked tirelessly in his yard, and in the yards of his neighbors, taking pride in the care and beautification of the neighborhood.

Surviving, in addition to his wife of 47 years, are his children, Dianna Deveney (fiancé, Chad Guthrie); Michael (Melinda) Deveney; granddaughter, Juliana Deveney; brothers, Daniel (Sharon) Deveney, Charles (Linda) Deveney; and sister, Maria Dugan (Patrick Moran), as well as many loving nieces and nephews.

A Funeral Mass will be held at Our Lady Star of the Sea, 1100 8th Ave N, North Myrtle Beach, SC 29582, on September 21, 2026, at 11:00 am.
