Jim proudly served in the US Navy. A graduate of Kansas State University, Jim worked for RCA in Camden, NJ, then later started Peripherals General Inc. He joined General Data Comm in Danbury, CT, in 1976 where he was the Vice President of Engineering before becoming the President of the International Division in Wokingham, UK, from 1980 to 1982.
On March 16, 1974, Jim married Patricia Perry residing in Avalon and Maple Shade, NJ, relocating to Newtown, CT in 1976. After his retirement in 2010, they moved to warmer weather in Calabash, NC. Jim was a member of Seaside United Methodist Church. He was an avid golfer and was a member of Crow Creek Golf Club.
Surviving in addition to his wife, Patricia are his sons, Jeff Linnell, Jason Linnell (wife, Melissa), Matt Linnell (wife, Michelle); daughters, Lindy Hamilton (husband, Mark), Jenny Brooks (husband, Rich); grandchildren, Hannah, Jane, Casey, Taylor, Nikki, Colby, Riley and Peter.
A memorial service will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Thursday, January 5, 2023 at Seaside United Methodist Church, Sunset Beach, NC.
