James Dew Tully

On September 20, 2026, James D. Tully passed away peacefully and rejoined his cherished granddaughter, Caradine. Born in a coal mining camp in 1934, Mr. Tully was raised and lived in Fayette County, West Virginia until he and his wife Peggy, retired and moved to Myrtle Beach, South Carolina in the late 1980's. After graduating from high school in 1953, he received his bachelor's degree from West Virginia Institute of Technology and later his master's degree from West Virginia College of Graduate Studies. He and Peggy married in 1957 as he began a three decade teaching career in the public schools of West Virginia. After retirement, he enjoyed gardening, being a dog parent many times over, going to the beach and most importantly, spending time with his wife and family.

In addition to Peggy, those left to cherish his memory include his son, Jim and daughter-in-law Amy of Fort Worth, Texas and many friends and extended family. Special love goes to amazing neighbors, Roseanne, the Midkiff family and Kelsey Dunham. In lieu of flowers or other condolences, the family asks for donations to St. Jude Children's Research Hospital in memory of Elizabeth Caradine Tully, his granddaughter.

A Celebration of Life will be held at 1:00 pm on September 26, 2026, at Lee Funeral Home, 11840 Highway 90, Little River, South Carolina 29566.
