

Formally of Springfield, VA, Charlestown and Hudson MA, James was born in Carthage, NC on January 13, 1935 to Samuel J. and Marie Garrison Wicker. He was a brother to the late Samuel, Jack, Paul Ray, Joan, Larry and Sue.
Jim retired from the Navy after 21 years of Service. He served honorably during the Korean War after joining the service at the age of 17. He worked many years as a Butcher in civilian life, worked for multiple supermarkets, including Stop & Shop, serving as a supervisor. He then opened his own Butcher shop in Hudson, MA, followed by the opening of several more markets.
Later, he sold his businesses and worked as a Meat Manager for Grand Union Supermarkets and Safeway in VA. Jim also earned his degree in economics from Cornell University. His love for the grocery business led him back to Boston where he worked as a Meat Manager for Johnny’s FoodMaster until he retired in 1997.
Jim was a proud member of the Masons, Shriners, Amvets, VFW, Elks, American Legion and the Eagles. He had many interests; golfing, fishing, traveling, bicycling, and walking. He also enjoyed making wine and sharing his bounty with friends and family. Most of all, he enjoyed Sharing stories, laughter and music with family and friends.
James is survived by his wife of 66 years, Margaret Noyes Wicker, their six children; James Jr., David, John, Kevin (Angelo), William and Patricia, grandchildren; David Jr.,(Abby), Natalia (Benjamin), Javier (lorena), Phillip, Patrick, Daniel, Ryan, Brendan (Ingrid), Joseph and Denise, his younger brother Jerry Russell and wife Harriet, along with many loving nieces and nephews and many great-grandchildren.
Special thanks to the Hospice staff, Wendy and Erin, for the wonderful care they provided. Jim’s final wishes are to be buried at sea by the U.S. Navy.

Visitation is scheduled for 2:30pm on Friday, February 24, 2023 and Lee Funeral Home Chapel. Funeral service will begin at 3:00pm.
