Janice Arlaine Wagner, 74, of North Myrtle Beach, South Carolina, formerly of Washington, D.C., passed away peacefully on June 30, 2025, surrounded by the love and quiet grace she brought to so many lives.
Born on November 15, 1950, in Washington, D.C., Janice was a lifelong caregiver in spirit and in action. From a remarkably young age, she bore responsibility with compassion and strength well beyond her years. In her earliest chapter, she helped care for her newborn brother while their mother faced a serious illness—a testament to her deep capacity for love, even as a child.
Throughout her life, Janice offered quiet support, a patient ear, and a steady presence to those she loved. Her grace, humor, and unwavering care left an imprint that will not fade. She had a gift for listening without judgment and helping others feel seen and understood. Her gentle smile—offered often and freely—was a reflection of the kindness she gave so naturally.
She found joy and companionship in the animals she loved—her loyal dogs and cherished birds, each one a part of the peaceful home she created. Her enduring friendship with Beverly “Bev” Stephenson was a constant light in her life. Bev stood faithfully by Janice's side through every season, including the tender final moments—proof of a bond that spoke louder than words.
Janice was preceded in death by her beloved parents, Harold L. Gregoire and Dora C. Gregoire, as well as her brother, Robert L. Gregoire. She is survived by her brother, Stephen T. Gregoire, who will forever hold her in his heart, numerous nephews and nieces, and by her devoted companion, whose presence was a cherished light in Janice’s life and care.
Though time and distance sometimes kept us apart, Janice’s memory lives on in the quiet moments—in a soft laugh remembered, a kindness repeated, a silence shared. Her legacy is one of presence and gentleness, carried now in the hearts of those she loved.
Interment will be held at Gate of Heaven Cemetery in Silver Spring, Maryland, where she will be laid to rest with peace and honor. In lieu of flowers, the family encourages acts of quiet kindness or support to a local hospice organization in Janice’s memory.
