He was a graduate of Montgomery Blair High School in Silver Spring, MD. While in high school, Jerry volunteered with the Hillandale Volunteer Fire Department and following graduation, Jerry enlisted in the US Navy where he proudly served during Vietnam. After his time with the Navy, he began a lengthy 24-year career with the Montgomery County Police Department where he was a K-9 Officer. While working for the department, Jerry received his bachelor’s degree from the University of Maryland. Jerry’s skills did not end with K-9 policing, he was also a talented floral designer, often assisting Blackistone Florist in Washington, DC.
Jerry began dating Laurie Eddins on August 15, 1997, and the two were married on June 18, 1999. They lived in New Bern, NC until her retirement when they became snowbirds spending winters in Florida. The two wanted to find their “forever” home moving to Virginia and West Virginia finally making North Myrtle Beach home in 2021. Since Jerry loved fishing, cold Miller Lite (or any other cheap beer), and golfing, North Myrtle Beach was perfect. A true patriot, Jerry remained loyal to the US Navy and upon moving to North Myrtle Beach, he joined the American Legion Post 186.
Surviving in addition to his wife Laurie, are his children, Steven, Greg, Michael, Christian and Colton Brandt; stepdaughter, Tasha Lewis: brother Steven Brandt; and sister, Linda Dyer.
A graveside service with Military Honors will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Friday, September 19, 2025, at North Myrtle Beach Memorial Gardens. Lee Funeral Home and Crematory is assisting the family.
