Jay was a devoted husband, father, brother, and friend whose warmth, love of sports, and enjoyment of life left a lasting impression on those who knew him.
A proud graduate of Sterling High School in Stratford, New Jersey, Class of 1970, Jay spent many years working as a salesman for various food distributors. He later became an owner/operator for the Pepperidge Farm Cookie Company, where he continued his career with the same dedication and hard work that defined him throughout his life.
Jay had a lifelong passion for sports and was especially active in the New Jersey Hockey Association, where he shared his enthusiasm for the game and his love of hockey with others. Sports were an important part of his life, bringing him friendships, treasured memories, and countless opportunities to connect with those who shared his interests.
For the past 20 years, Jay made his home in Calabash, North Carolina, where he enjoyed the relaxed coastal lifestyle and, especially, golfing with family and friends. Those rounds on the golf course and the time spent with loved ones were among the simple pleasures that made life special to him.
Jay is survived by his beloved wife, Robin (née Donohue); his daughter, Shannon; his son, Sean, and daughter-in-law, Carly; his brother, David; his sisters, Suzan Machuga and Nancy Lang; and many cherished nieces and nephews.
Jay will be remembered for his love of family, his enthusiasm for sports, the friendships he built throughout his life, and the memories he created with those closest to him. He will be deeply missed by all who knew and loved him, but his memory will live on in the hearts of his family and friends.
A Celebration of Life is being planned in New Jersey. Details will be announced at a later date.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests that donations be made in Jay’s memory to the American Stroke Association.
Forever loved, forever remembered, and never forgotten.
