

John Collin McManemin, 83, of Little River, South Carolina, passed away peacefully, surrounded by family on Friday October 20, 2023, at McLeod Seacoast Hospital after several months of failing health.
John was born in Orange, NJ to John C. McManemin and Marion Leypoldt McManemin and spent his childhood in Pelham, NY with older sister Nancy. After high school, John attended Stevens Institute of Technology and then joined the Navy at age 19. John served his country for four years, before attending Columbia University School of General Studies while working at a bank. He then attended Harpur College at Binghamton University where he met Betty Melnichek. John and Betty graduated in June 1967 and married in August. John had a successful 37-year career at IBM before retiring and moving to the Myrtle Beach area from New Fairfield, CT in 2004. John enjoyed volunteering in church, serving as an Elder, usher, and active in Bible studies. He enjoyed the outdoors including fishing and camping, playing cards (excellent bridge player), but most of all spending time with his family.
John is survived by his loving wife of 56 years, Betty McManemin, and their three children: Jennifer (Brian) Tally, James (Lori) McManemin, and William (Jacqueline) McManemin along with six grandchildren: Sydney, Ashley, Kiley, Jack, Collin, and Thomas.
Services will be held at Risen Christ Lutheran Church LCMS at 12 noon on Saturday October 28, 2023.
