Joyce "Cookie" A. Fondren

Joyce A. “Cookie” Fondren, 68, passed away December 30, 2020.

Born in Charlotte, NC, she was the daughter of Joseph and Peggy Phyler Bogle.

Cookie was the first female member of the NMB Rescue Squad. She then worked for the Waccamaw Center for Mental Health.

She is survived by her son, Charles Dalton (Maria); daughters Lesley Shawn Speedling (Tony); Lindsey Fondren; a brother, Joe Bogle (Ginger); and 3 grandchildren; Caitlin, Anthony and Hannah. Cookie is predeceased by her husband, Leslie Wade Fondren; and her sister, Terry Britt.

Funeral Mass will be held at 11:00am on Saturday, January 9, 2021, at Our Lady Star of the Sea in North Myrtle Beach. Cookie will be laid to rest with her beloved husband at Risen Christ Lutheran Church. A luncheon will be hosted at the home of Tony and Shawn Speedling following the services.
