Judy was born in Oklahoma on August 11, 1945, and raised in California as one of seven children. She met the love of her life, Hobart Mendenhall, in her home state, and they were married on September 11, 1966, in Chico, California. This fall would have marked 59 years of marriage.
She earned a bachelor’s degree in sociology from the University of Maryland, College Park. Together, she and Hobart shared a life of traveling and adventure, eventually putting down roots on the East Coast and raising two sons.
Judy was strong, full of life, and deeply devoted to the people she loved. Her life was rooted in faith—a faith that shaped the way she lived, loved, and endured. Above all else, she was passionate about her relationship with Jesus and the joy of raising her sons. She had a big presence, a generous heart, and a deep trust in God that carried her through every season.
She is survived by her husband, Hobart Mendenhall; her sons, Tristan Mendenhall and Brendan Mendenhall; and five grandchildren she adored: Hayden, Alden, and Hudson (children of Tristan), and Evangeline and Felicity (children of Brendan).
She fought the good fight. She kept the faith.
And now she’s healed.
