
Julia Floyd Smith Rives, 78, passed away peacefully on April 2, 2018 at home, surrounded by her loving family.
Born on August 16, 1939 in Fayetteville, NC, she was the daughter of the late William Carlton and Lillian Williams Floyd. She grew up in Fairmont, NC, where she spent most of her life.
Mrs. Rives is survived by her children, Dr. Robert Hoke Smith, III (Elizabeth), Julianne Smith Hussey (Bill), Edie Smith Shannon (Scott); two sisters, Jane Floyd Lizee (Bob), Anne Floyd Rich (Lenwood); grandchildren, Andrew Smith, Catherine Smith O’Laughlin (Andrew), Maggie Hussey, Carrie Hussey, Jack Shannon, Anne Shannon; extended family, Scott Rives, Victoria Coughlin and their families, William H. Hussey, III (Amber) and their sons, William and Hudson. She is predeceased by her husband of 37 years, R. Hoke Smith, Jr., husband of 6 years, Robert F. Rives and brother, Dr. William Carlton Floyd, Jr.
A memorial service will be held at 3:30 pm on Saturday, April 14 at Trinity United Methodist Church, 706 14th Avenue South, North Myrtle Beach, SC 29582.
