Kenneth “Kenny” August Neas, a resident of North Myrtle Beach, SC, was born on March 23, 1961, in Washington, D.C., to the late Marie Carol and James Neas. He grew up in Lanham, Maryland, and graduated from DeMatha Catholic High School in 1979. He lived in Bowie, MD, until 1992, and then in Edgewater, MD, until 2018. Kenny dedicated his career to the United States Senate, working in the Sergeant at Arms Office of Printing, Graphics and Direct Mail from 1979 until his retirement in 2016 after 37 years of service.
He is survived by his daughter, JoAnne Maurer, her husband Adam, and two grandsons, Landon and Benjamin Maurer, all of Pasadena, MD.
Kenny loved living by the water and was an avid fisherman and boater—until 2002, when he bought his first Harley-Davidson motorcycle and began a new adventure. He loved riding his bikes and often rode with friends, many of whom became found family, that he met through a group called BON. Together they took bike trips that spanned from Laconia, New Hampshire, to Tennessee and throughout the Carolinas and Maryland. Since moving to North Myrtle Beach in 2018, he proudly rode in 17 consecutive Bike Weeks.
In his younger days, Kenny enjoyed camping and riding his three-wheeler through the woods, mountains, and farmland of Maryland and Pennsylvania. He was also an avid racing fan, especially of sprint and stock car racing, and often attended races in Richmond, VA and Williams Grove, PA.
Kenny was known for his quick wit and could often be found cracking jokes or doing spot-on impressions that kept those around him laughing. His humor and antics will long be remembered by all who knew him.
He was a beloved and devoted son, father, and grandfather, and an honorary brother and cherished friend to many. He will be terribly missed but lovingly remembered.
A Celebration of Life will be held on Saturday, July 19, 2025 from 3:00 - 6:00 PM at Sunset Creek at Vera's. 1200 White Sands Dr. Lusby, MD 20657.
In lieu of flowers, memorial donations can be made in his name to Providence of Maryland.
