Lenora N. Zimmerman

Lenora Nye Zimmerman, 87, of Little River, SC, passed away at her residence surrounded by her family on Tuesday, October 5, 2021. Born on July 21, 1934, in Proctorville, she was the daughter of the late Voyd D. and Bertie Atkinson Nye.

Lenora was a graduate of Meredith College. She was a retired elementary school teacher having taught in the North Carolina School System. Lenora was a former member of Oak Grove Baptist Church. Mrs. Zimmerman enjoyed playing bridge and gardening. She always loved good fried shrimp. Lenora was a matriarch to a loving close family and will be greatly missed by all of those she has touched.

Survivors include her children, Gina Zimmerman Morris (Rick) of Little River, SC; Lorie Zimmerman of Charlotte, NC; and Kevin Zimmerman (Mary) of Salisbury, NC; grandchildren, Joshua Harrell (Kelley) of Knoxville, TN; Lucas Harrell (Tiffany) of James Island, SC; and Jacob Harrell of Little River, SC; her great-grandchildren, Lucy June; Ruby Wade; Arthur Bruce (Arti); and Hank Evitt Harrell; brother-in-law, Hoyt Zimmerman of Murphy, NC; and sister-in-laws, Kay Meford (Sam) of Little River, SC; Pat Rabon (Joy) of Conway, SC. Lenora was preceded in death by her husband of 61 years, Wade H. Zimmerman and her brother, Foy Nye.

The Zimmerman Family would like to give a special thanks to Mrs. Lenora’s caregivers Stacy Hill with Home Care Helpers, Sandy Madigan and the team at Crescent Hospice, and her cousin Kaye Atkinson of Lumberton, NC.

Memorial services for Mrs. Lenora Zimmerman will be held at a later date. Lee Funeral Home and Crematory of North Myrtle Beach/Little River is serving the family.
