Lisa was adopted shortly after birth by Charles and Dorothy Fields of Elyria Ohio. With their 3 sons Charles II, Chris and Corey they provided Lisa with a loving, nurturing environment that instilled the compassion and values she carried with her for the duration of her life.
Lisa graduated from The English Nanny & Governess School in Chagrin Falls, Ohio in 1995. Shortly after graduation she moved to the Simi Valley area of California to pursue her dream of living near the ocean. Over the next 12 years Lisa worked for many high profile families including actors, CEO'S and business executives. During this time, she also put herself through nursing school and worked nights and weekends with Kaiser Permanente as well as local area health clinics. In August of 2006, Lisa signed a 1 year contract with a family in the Chicagoland area. Two months before that contract was to end, she meet the man that would become her husband, Brandon Hester and the two were married 10 months and 2 days later in Elyria. Over the next 2 years Lisa shifted her focus from being a Nannny / Governess and a shift manager for Starbucks to a wife and mother of 2 beautiful children, Olivia and Wayde. She dedicated her life to her husband, children, family and friends, providing a warm, nurturing, loving and happy home.
In June of 2022 the family decided to relocate to the Myrtle Beach South Carolina, in part due to Lisa's deep love of the ocean. Two months after the family joined Brandon in South Carolina, Lisa had emergency surgery for a ruptured ulcer in her stomach. The recovery process was slow and difficult for Lisa. 15 months later she was given the diagnosis of stage 4 stomach cancer. She fought hard, keeping a positive outlook with true a Wonder Woman persona for the next 14 months.
She was admitted to the hospital at the end of February of 2025 with liver complications. On March 8, 2025, she became unresponsive and went into organ failure at MUSC in Florence SC.
Lisa is survived by her devoted and loving husband, Brandon her children beautiful and adoring children Olivia (13) and Wayde (12), 3 brothers Charles II of NC, Chris of MD, and Corey of KY, birth mother Elaine Whipple of FL, multiple cousins, aunts and uncles, as well as countless friends and loved ones.
She was preceded in death by her parents Charles and Dorothy Fields, mother-in-law Cathy Hester, bonus dad Lane Whipple as well as multiple cousins, aunts, uncles and grandparents.
Lisa did not want traditional visitation / funeral services. She and her family have opted for a celebration of life ceremony that will be held on May 10th in North Myrtle Beach, location TBD.
Lisa was truly a light to those around her. Her warm, kind and compassionate heart touched everyone that she came in contact with, often making lasting friendships out of chance meetings. She was fiercely loyal to her family and friends. A heart of gold with a Madea attitude. Going above and beyond for those she loved was a common occurrence for Lisa, regularly making personal sacrifices for the benefit of her loved ones. Lisa's happy places were at the beach, snuggling with babies and bonding with animals of all types.
To say that Lisa is greatly missed by her friends and family does not begin to describe the loss we feel. Her energy was infectious and the more you were able to bask in her light the more you wanted it and depended on it.
Although were are all grateful that she is no longer in pain fighting this horrible disease, those closest to her will never forget her or have a day go by that she is not desperately missed.
The family has been deeply touched by the outpouring of love and support from those closest to us. In lieu of flowers, please consider making a donation to Lisa's GoFundMe, which can be found on her Facebook page.
Live, Laugh, Love like Lisa!
