Luther Dixon Pearsall Jr.

Luther Dixon Pearsall, Jr. passed away Tuesday, September 20th, 2022 in Little River, South Carolina. Dixon grew up in Fayetteville, NC with his sister Cindy. He graduated from Reid Ross High School in 1972, where he ran track and played saxophone in the “marching dozen.” Dixon earned degrees from University of Tennessee (B.S. in Special Education, M.Ed in Vocational Rehabilitation) and North Carolina State University (Ed.D. in Occupational Education). He went on to work in university settings and within the field of vocational rehabilitation. His work took him to Michigan, Florida, Saudi Arabia (twice), Kentucky, North Carolina, Ohio, and South Carolina. He enjoyed singing (in the shower, the choir, and the karaoke bar), good deals, good food, traveling, and the beach. He loved cheering his kids on at sporting events and playing ball in the yard with his grandkids.

Dixon is survived by his wife of 46 years, Mahaha Garrell Pearsall, sister Cynthia (Cindy) Pearsall, and four children, Erin Pearsall Aderholdt (David), Bree Pearsall (Ben Abell), Jillian Pearsall (Blake Skidmore), and Zakary Dixon Pearsall (Sydney Pullen). His memory will be cherished by his grandchildren: John Luther Aderholdt, Seth Aderholdt, Hazel Grace Pearsall Abell, Henry Sage Pearsall Abell, and Mari Skidmore Pearsall. He was preceded in death by his mother Grace Tyner Pearsall, father Luther Dixon Pearsall Sr., and grandmother Blannie Kinlaw Tyner.

A memorial service will be held on Saturday, September 24, 2022 at 11:00 am at Trinity United Methodist Church located at 706 14th Ave S., North Myrtle Beach, SC 29582. Visitation will be one hour prior to the service from 10:00 am - 11:00 am at the church. The family will be there to welcome friends and loved ones.
