Martha Ellen Chinery

Martha E. Chinery, age 63, of Conway, South Carolina, passed away peacefully at her residence on March 6, 2024. Born in Radford, Virginia, on May 4, 1960, she was a daughter of the late Ret. Col. Murray W. “Pete” Gibson, USA, and Ellen Wall, stepdaughter of Michaeline “Mickey” Gibson.

Survivors include her loving husband, Henry J. Chinery III; children, Patrick K. Chinery, Kristopher R. Chinery, Erin M. Chinery, Henry J. Chinery IV; sisters, Sara “Sally” Folmar, M. Patricia Gullick; brother, Peter M. Gibson. She is preceded in death by her parents, along with her stepmother, Michaeline “Mickey” Gibson.

A devout Christian, Martha was a very involved member of Ekklesia Christian Church. She was active in R.E.A.C.H Ministry and Legacy Ministry. She was also a member of the Bible Study Fellowship. Martha had a successful and rewarding career in Critical Care Nursing, primarily at Sinai Hospital of Baltimore. An RN since 1980, she received her BSN in nursing from Stevenson University in 2012. Martha participated in several oversea medical mission trips to India and West Panama. Her next mission trip was going to be in Kenya.

Martha loved traveling and exploring new parts of the world. She visited Canada, Europe, Israel, Mexico and India. Martha lived in Germany as a teenager where she became fluent in German. She also enjoyed going on cruises. She visited many ports in the Caribbean. In her free time, Martha liked gardening, cycling and card games. She was a member of the Golden Girls Card Club and the Chicken Coop Co-op Chicks.

A memorial service will be held on March 23, 2024, from 10:30 AM – 11:30 AM at Ekklesia Christian Church - Shine Auditorium in the Hub building, 2431 E. HWY 501, Conway, SC 29526, 2469 US-501, Conway, SC 29526.
