Marty, my childhood friend; we met each other when we were five years old.  Growing up we had lots of fun and got into a lot of mischief.  I know we hadn’t seen each other since you moved away after 7th grade but you were the best friend anyone could have asked for.  Godspeed my friend!!!

Marty was my first boyfriend, my senior prom date, and of course first heartbreak.  My mother adored him though and called him a rascal. He was the first man I ever said I love you to, and the first man to tell me he loved me.  We just recently connected through my best friend Dawn, and have been talking over the last six months.  Time goes by, and we all group up and sometimes grow apart, but it is amazing how quickly you can reconnect with people from your past, forgive, play the remember when game, laugh, and talk about a better future.  I am so thankful I was able to see him one more time, to hear his voice and laugh.  My heart is broken, for the friends and family who have been in his life so much more consistently and faithfully than myself...but mainly for his son Nate.  You will be watched over forever.

Marty, though Anthony and I had the opportunity to meet you just last year, I felt like I was hanging out with an old friend thanks to all the stories I’d heard about you and because of your warm and welcoming personality!   There was no ego or attitude from you, just a hearty welcome, a bright smile, and so many laughs.  It was an honor to meet you, and I will always cherish the memories of that night...especially the chat you, Brian, and I had on the sidewalk in front of Duck’s.  
I read a quote once that said “don’t cry because it’s over, smile because it happened,” and I think so many people have so many reasons to smile as they think of you. You were one of a kind and an amazing friend to people I love dearly...thank you for memories that make me and so many people smile!

So sad to hear of Marty's passing. I can honestly say that EVERY time I saw him he had a smile & a laugh for me, no matter what was going on. I met you along with Todd and Darren when I first moved to MB so many years ago. Always smiling and happy and never a negative word from you. I can't believe you are gone. You will be truly missed. You will always be in my treasured MB thoughts and memories.

I met marty over 30 years ago back in high school we instantly hit it off and became good friends. We have been through the ups and downs of life over the years.We didnt see each other alot over the last few years with us both being busy but we talked often.Marty was one of the kindest most giving people I have ever known and always had a positive thing to say and could make you smile no matter how bad of a day you had. As I sit and think of your voice ringing out Vince Gill at my dad's death benefit,  you had everyone either laughing or crying , you surely knew how to move a room ! You have always been a life long member of the Parrish family ! Just listening now I can hear you belting that tune in heaven ! We will forever miss you ! Your legacy will be like no others !
