Mary Wylene Phillips

Mary Wylene Lancaster Phillips, 84, passed away peacefully on Saturday, June 21, 2025, with her family by her side. Born in Gainesville, GA on May 30, 1941, Mary was a daughter of the late William C. and Blanche Huckaby Lancaster. She was the devoted wife of the late David Franklin Phillips, Sr.

Following a brief courtship, Mary and David married on August 26, 1964, in Gainesville, GA and enjoyed over 60 years of marriage until his passing on June 20, 2024. Mary was dedicated to her family and blessed to have been a full-time homemaker to her husband and children, creating a lifetime of cherished memories. Following David’s retirement from the US Army, the family moved to the Windy Hill Section of NMB before making Little River their final home in 2005.

Mary had an unyielding faith in Christ and was member of Beach Assembly of God in Ocean Isle, NC. She graciously served her church and her church family. Mary was loved by all who knew her and will be greatly missed.

Mary is survived by her sons, William Jeffery Phillips (Dena), David “Buddy” Franklin Phillips, Jr. (Breianne Comer), Donald Christopher Phillips (Suzanne), Timothy Mark Phillips (Edith); daughter, Donna Michelle Phillips; grandchildren, Danielle Phillips, Paula Phillips, Robbie Phillips, Hannah Burghard, Haily Phillips (Ryan), Bailey Phillips, Mark Phillips, Noah Phillips, Nathanael Phillips, Ana-Caroline Phillips, Nicky Phillips and Owen Phillips. She is also survived by her brother, William Terrel Lancaster; sisters, Ramona Jalayne Steptoe, Sarah Louise Sosebee; and her adopted family, the Blanchard’s, whom she loved dearly. Mary was preceded in death by an infant son, Michael William Phillips and sisters, Ethel Madgelene Lancaster and Barbara Ann Hollingsworth.

A funeral service will be held at 2:00 PM on Thursday, June 26, 2025, at Beach Assembly of God, 20 Bliss Rd. NW, Ocean Isle Beach, NC 28469. Visitation will be held one hour prior to the service. Interment will immediately follow at North Myrtle Beach Memorial Gardens, 65 SC-90, Little River, SC 29566.
