Beloved Mother, Mimi, and Friend
Nancy Lynn Lewis, 76, of Little River, South Carolina, passed peacefully at her home the morning of Saturday, January 24th, 2026.
Born on November 28, 1949, the eldest child of James Stalvey Lewis and Norma Hinson Lewis, Nancy lived nearly all her life in Horry County, keeping close to her family’s roots. Though her declining health had kept her confined to her home for many years, Nancy remained fiery, tenacious, and outspoken up until her passing and never lost her love of literature, film, good food, and animals of all shapes and sizes. A basketball player through her high school years, she was quick to remind her family with a wink and a smile that their prowess in sports was inherited from her. An adventurer at heart, Nancy held a deep love for the beach and the mountains in equal measure and possessed a genuine reverence for history and what we may learn from it today, with few things making her happier than when she had the opportunity to travel somewhere new.
Preceded to paradise by both of her parents, Nancy is survived by her sister; Linda Lewis Gennaro, her children; Teresa Whittier, Amanda Beasley, and J. Christopher Beasley, her grandchildren; Harmony McBride, Jake Whittier, Sara Whittier, Sienna Beasley, Aishlyn Beasley, Skyler Beasley, and Dakota Beasley, her great-grandchildren; Roland McBride and Felix McBride, and her dearly loved cats, who were her loyal companions and confidants.
The family extends their deepest gratitude to Laurie Aube, for helping Harmony to care for Nancy for many years.
Friends and loved ones who wish to pay their respects will be received at Nancy’s home by the family on a date that will be announced in the upcoming days. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in Nancy’s name to the donor's local humane society.
“I’m writing this from heaven,
Where I dwell with God above.
I am resting here with angels,
Who surround me now with love.
But though I may seem far away,
We will never truly part.
For part of me lives on with you,
Forever in your heart.”
