Nettie W. Hutter

Nettie was a woman who believed in hard work, lifelong learning, and making the most of every opportunity. As an adult, while working full time, she pursued her college education, commuting from Rockingham to UNC Charlotte to achieve her dream of earning a degree. Never one to settle, she continued her education and went on to earn her master’s degree from UNC Pembroke. Her determination and dedication were an inspiration to those who knew her.

She devoted 31 years of her life to teaching elementary school, touching countless young lives along the way. Teaching was more than a profession to Nettie; it was a reflection of her generous heart and her desire to make a difference in the lives of others.

After retiring from education, Nettie moved to North Myrtle Beach, where she began a second career as a real estate agent on the Grand Strand. For another 18 years, she shared her knowledge, enthusiasm, and love of helping people find a place to call home.

Nettie was strong in her faith and carried that faith with her throughout her life. She loved wholeheartedly and was known for her generosity, kindness, and wonderful sense of humor. She had a way of making people feel welcome and loved, and her presence brought warmth and joy to those around her.

Above all, her family was her greatest treasure. She loved deeply, gave generously, and treasured the relationships that filled her life. She leaves behind a legacy of perseverance, compassion, faith, and love that will continue through the generations of family she cherished.

Nettie is survived by her beloved husband, Charlie; her daughter, Kathy McCroskey; her granddaughter, Brittany (Brian Lods); and her great-grandchildren, Harlynn Kennedy Wolford and Liam Rodriguez.

Though her time on earth has come to an end, the lessons she taught, the lives she touched, the laughter she shared, and the love she gave will live on in the hearts of those who knew her.

Her life was one of purpose, faith, determination, and love. She will be deeply missed and forever cherished.
