
Oliver Hill Yancey, Jr., 64, passed away unexpectedly, Saturday, April 7, 2018 at McLeod Seacoast Hospital, Little River, SC. Hill was born August 30, 1953 in Warrenton, NC to the late Oliver Hill Yancey, Sr. (Sam) and Geraldyne Harris Yancey Finch. He graduated from East Carolina University in 1975, and worked for Henkel Corporation as account manager for over 35 years, retiring March, 2017. Hill and his wife, Marlene, moved from Greensboro, NC to North Myrtle Beach in 2014, where he became known as the neighborhood chef extraordinaire, always ready to host a sport or holiday celebration. Their garage was the neighborhood destination for fun, music and good times. Beloved for his quick wit and ability to offer a solution to any problem, his love of life was evident in the way he lived. Hill was devoted to his family, and especially proud of recently becoming a grandfather to Jackson Oliver Browne.
A memorial service will be held at Warren Plains United Methodist Church, 1316 Warren Plains Road, Warrenton, NC 27589 on Saturday, April 14, 2018 at 11am. A private family burial will be held at the cemetery prior to the service at 10:30am. A service to celebrate the life of Hill will also be held at Ocean Keyes Clubhouse, North Myrtle Beach, SC on Wednesday, April 18, 2018 at 4pm.
Hill is survived by his wife of almost 43 years, Marlene Hight Yancey; his daughter, Sara Yancey Browne and husband, D. J. Browne, and one grandson, Jackson Oliver Browne, all of North Myrtle Beach, SC. He is also survived by two sisters, Jerri. Y. Hight and husband, Ronnie Hight of Titusville, Florida and Mabel Y. Bullock and husband, Neblett Bullock of Raleigh, NC. He is also survived by numerous cousins, nieces and nephews.
Honorary pallbearers are Kirk Donald, Tommy Perkinson, Todd Wemyss, Bill Swain, Bill Lock, Randy Hunt and Greg Burns.
