Dear Marlene and family,  my thoughts and prayers are with you as you say good bye to Hill.  Hill was a great guy who I truly enjoyed working with. He was fun to be around, witty, and full of southern charm.  It always brightened my day when I got a call from him, just to hear his voice would make me smile! And I always looked forward to seeing him at our team meetings or customer visits because he was so fun to be around.  I have a lot of good memories of Hill that I will cherish forever.

Dear Marlene and Family,

I was very saddened and shocked to learn of Hill’s recent passing.  

I had not seen Hill in a number of years until recently back in November of last year at Coleman Perkinson’s funeral service at Wise Baptist Church. We had a chance to visit for about 30 minutes and it was very uplifting to catch up a bit on the past and present and rekindle memories.  I am so grateful our paths had a chance to cross again even if for just a short time.

Hill was a great friend during our school years at Norlina and as a fellow Pirate at ECU. Always quick of wit and subtle humor, he was never at a loss for words of wisdom on any occasion and just a general pleasure to be around.  

I have many fond memories of those times we had to share as classmates and friends and grieve along with all of you at his passing but also celebrate his life and his presence now in the glory of God.  

May God bless you and all of the family and grant you strength and comfort now and in the days to come.

Hill Yancey…A guy couldn’t ask for a better friend. He was happy, smart, funny, fun to be around, always made a day better, and was always there for a friend. From second grade to forever, there are so many memories: playing at school, riding our bikes to Glenn Perkinson’s store to play pinball (he was the pinball wizard, not me), high school classes, working for Pete King together for four summers. We actually did some work, and had a good time. A lot of stories there….

I’ll miss Hill. Anybody who ever had contact with Hill will miss him. Marlene and family: you are in our prayers every day. God bless you !!

I retired from Henkel in 2003 - after 35+ years starting in Accounting and ending in Human Resources as a HR Data  manager and Fleet manager, Hill was one of my drivers in our great sales force. I am so sad to hear of his passing. My heart goes out to his family, he was a southern gentleman for sure.

O.Hill (or OH, HILL!!)  I've thought about you often over the last year or so, and was deeply saddened this morning when I heard of your passing.  You had a way about you that was calming,  kind and  so very funny!  You could make me smile on the worst days.  I offer my deepest sympathies to your family as they get thru these next few days, that lead into weeks, months and years without you.  I am sure your will be missed, as you were loved well by many. Marlene and Sara we are so deeply sorry for your loss.  We have only known Hill and the rest of the family for a short time but it was our pleasure to meet Hill and to get to know all of you! I had the privilege of meeting Hill through the Ball Corporation Plant in Reidsville, NC.  When he visited our plant he was one of the nicest and friendliest supplier representatives that came through our doors.  I will always remember his kindness.  So sorry for your loss. I will continue to lift you and your family up in prayer.

I have a special memory of Hill that goes back around 20 years.  I was working in the Henkel plant in Jackson Tennessee and received a message that one of the salesman was stopping by for a couple pails of material to take to one of our customers.  I was raised in the north and was not prepared for Hill Yancey to walk in the door that day.  I took one look at him and thought this must be what Colonel Sanders looked like when he was young.  Hill was the epitome of everything southern I had heard about and I can still hear that wonderful southern drawl announcing why he was there  and what he was expecting.  The pails weren't ready and Hill took a seat and began talking and gave me that feeling of an old acquaintance I hadn't seen in many years and we were just catching up.   He had me laughing so hard my sides hurt.  He was truly a southern gentleman and always full of stories any time we spoke after that.  I left the container division to work in Chemical Management after that but any time my name was brought up anywhere I received a call or email from Hill with a note of congratulations or just a message to say hello.  It was my turn to do that last year to wish him the very best on his retirement.  And thank him for all the nice messages over the years.  He sent me back a very kind message thanking me for getting him out of tight spots and said it was time for him to take a break.  I will always cherish my memory of this lovely man.  And hope that all the wonderful memories will help his family through this time.  You all have my very deepest sympathy.  My prayers are with the Yancey family through this time.

I was sadden to receive a call from Bob Pridgen informing me of Hill's death!  I have fond memories of the good old day's at NHS where Hill was always witty and sometimes funny!  It's good sometimes to reminisce the days gone by with the people you grew up with.   I pray that the Lord will give you peace in your time of loss and you will be surrounded by friends and family as they share their love for you.

Marlene, Sara, and family. My heart breaks for your lost. Hill was a part of the “Ball” family for many years. He was always so kind and caring to me as I lost my son and husband during that time. He spoke with so much love for all of you. He was such a fun, well rounded guy with a lot of compassion. Your family is in my prayers.

 I just heard you passed away and  the shock still hasn't set in... I recall when you, Donald paynter and I worked with Pete King during the summer painting instead of working in those hot tobacco fields.

I am sadden to hear of your our loss. My condolences and my prayers are with you through this trying time. Hill has been my friend for about 33 years. when ever I was with him he defiantly brought a smile to the conversation.  He has touched many with his southern charm. His memory will live with me  fore ever.

Hill will be dearly missed by all who knew him.  Hill had a way of always making you laugh and smile whenever you were with him.  He was a person that you always loved to be around.  I will always remember the outstanding tailgate and Nascar steak meals where he went over and above to make sure everyone was happy and full.  Hill was very conscientious and always wanted to do his very best in everything he did.  Hill taught me so much in business with his outstanding close customer relationships that he developed and maintained over his career.
