Oscar L. Harris

Oscar L. Harris passed away on Wednesday, November 12, 2025, only ten days shy of his 94th birthday, at McLeod Seacoast Hospital in Little River, SC. Born in Micaville, NC, Oscar was the last surviving child of the 12 children born to the late Lee and Flossie Thomas Harris.

In January 1971, following a 20-year and 27-day career, Oscar retired from the US Air Force at L. G. Hanscom Field, Bedford, Mass. A proud Korean War veteran, he served 20 years of active duty with distinction. Retirement lasted just a short while as he soon began another 20-year career with the USAF Civil Service as an Installation Club Manager again at Hanscom Air Force Base in Bedford, Massachusetts. In 1975, he met and fell in love with Kathleen McGrath, whom he married on August 4, 1985, in the chapel on the base.

He and Kathleen traveled to Longs and after realizing the weather was warmer and it never rained on the golf course, the two moved to the beach following their final retirement. He was an avid golfer who loved being outdoors.

In addition to his wife of 40 years, Oscar is survived by his children, Robert Harris (Donna), Lisa Macner, Terri Harris; grandchildren, Susan Opp, Michelle Limb, Billy Watkins; and three great-grandchildren, Dakota, Victoria, and Alexandra.
