Patricia (“Patty”) Phillips Himes, 78, passed away peacefully on May 8, 2026. Patty was bright, funny, strong in her faith, and a caregiver to anyone who needed her. She was devoted to her dogs and her happy place was always the beach.
She enjoyed her church, traveling, reading, going to the movies, and bringing a competitive spirit to everything from bingo to mahjong. She also had a talent for decorating - especially at Christmas - and creating beautiful silk floral arrangements. Patty loved music of all kinds, from country to shag, though Elvis was always her favorite artist. She had a sassy sense of humor, and neither stroke nor dementia diminished her sparkle.
Her family is deeply thankful for the caring staff at River Park, who loved and cared for Patty so well. We are also grateful for the many friends and family members who visited, checked in, and offered support over the last few months.
Patty is survived by her daughter, Ginger Nance; her sister, Connie Crowder and husband Don; her nieces, Kerry Haertel and Shelby Speno; and her nephew, Slade Crowder. She is also survived by her close extended family, Romona Gravett and husband Bill, and their daughters, Sandie and Sheri.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Virginia Mae and James Dalton Phillips.
A celebration of life will be announced at a later date. In lieu of flowers, please consider a donation in Patty’s memory to the American Heart Association or the Alzheimer’s Association.
