Paula Hernandez, 66, passed away on Tuesday, April 19, 2022 in Brunswick Medical Center. Born in Brooklyn, New York, she was the daughter of the late Ralph and Gloria Cigliano. Paula was a loving and faithful wife of 30 years to the late Ramon Hernandez-Ferrer. Following Ramon’s retirement in 1982, he and Paula moved from Brooklyn to the sunny coast of Ocean Isle Beach, NC.
At a young age, Paula’s father introduced her to baseball which became a tradition that she shared with her sons. An avid New York Mets fan, she took this part of New York with her when she moved to North Carolina.
A dedicated wife and mother, Paula enjoyed spending time with her family and made numerous friends wherever she went. Her affectionate personality was not only comforting but also a welcoming presence to everyone in her life. Paula became a second mom to many of her children’s friends. She loved cooking and hosting dinners with her family and friends. She believed that each holiday deserved a celebration. Paula was very warm and always gave big hugs that comforted anyone who received them. Her big-heartedness, kindness, and generosity were graciously accepted and reciprocated by all who knew and loved her. She will be greatly missed.
Paula was preceded in death by her husband, Ramon and parents, Ralph and Gloria. She is survived by her sons, Jason Hernandez (Aly Morales) and Daniel Hernandez (Lauren), brother Ralph Cigliano, and close family friend, Wesley Hickman (Ashley Hickman).
The family will receive friends from 1:30 until 2:30 PM at Lee Funeral Home and Crematory. A funeral service will follow at 3:00 PM in the North Myrtle Beach Memorial Gardens Mausoleum.
