Phillip Motley, known to friends as “Phil” and family members as “Pip”, passed away on July 1, 2018 at the age of 67.
A native of Oklahoma, Phil moved to Texas with family in 1968, graduating from Coronado High School and Sul Ross University. After an extraordinary career in oil and gas and manufacturing in Houston and San Antonio, Phil retired in North Carolina with Debra “Debbie” Motley, wife and best friend of 40 years.
Phil is preceeded in death by his parents, Coy Motley and Phyllis Loper Motley. He is survived by his wife, Debra “Debbie” Motley, brothers Wayne Motley and his wife, Beth and Michael Motley and his wife, Janet; daughter Amy Motley McDaniel and her husband Robert McDaniel and precious granddaughters Alexis and Cameron; and step-daughter Julie Gilmore. In addition, nephews Jake and Tyler Motley along with numerous cousins, nieces, nephews and extended family.
Phil will forever be remembered for his smile, tall tales, love of history, neighbors and church family. “Boomer Sooner”, Phil.
There will be a Celebration of Life Service at 11 am on Thursday, July 12 at Little River United Methodist Church (in the Life Center), with Pastor Russell Freeman officiating.
