It is with profound sadness that we announce the passing of Richard (Dick) Jurney, a beloved life partner, father, grandfather, great-grandfather, and friend, who left this life on October 7, 2026, at the age of 78.
Born on October 12, 1947, in Washinton, DC, Dick lived a life filled with love, laughter, and adventure. His successful career in Real Estate Development was only one aspect of his remarkable life. He cherished every moment spent with his family and friends, and his retirement in North Myrtle Beach was a time to pursue his passions, including golf and DJing. His love for Motown, Beach Music and Doo-wop was contagious, and he brought joy to all who knew him. As a devoted sports fan, he took great pleasure in watching his favorite teams, the Duke Blue Devils, New York Giants, and New York Yankees compete at the highest level, and he remained loyal and enthusiastic throughout their journeys.
Dick cherished his family and friends. He shared 25 wonderful years with his loving life partner, Marie Rigano. He was a devoted father to Lea Roan and Dora Morris and a proud grandfather to Alexia (Allen) Galvez, Tanner (Emily) Roan, Bailey Roan, Ryan Morris, and Rylie Morris. He was also a loving great-grandfather to Aubrey Galvez and Andre Galvez. Dick is also survived by his sister, Peggy Barba and his step-children, Chuck Steele and Marcie McCarthy.
He was predeceased by his parents, William and Helen Jurney, and his sister, Sharon Richard.
Dick's legacy will live on through the countless lives he touched. His family and friends will deeply miss him, but they take comfort in the memories they shared with him.
Lee Funeral Home and Crematory of Little River is serving the family.
