Richard "Pop" Allan DeMeo

Born on July 31, 1946, in Schenectady, NY, Richard was a son of the late Alphonse and Anne Maiorano DeMeo. He was the faithful and dedicated husband of Martha DeMeo. The two met on Christmas in 1965 and were married on July 29, 1967.

Richard worked for many years at GE in Schenectady, NY, where he was instrumental in research and development. He moved to Charlton, NY where he became a firefighter, eventually earning the position of Assistant Chief. In 1994, Richard and Martha moved to Little River, SC where they opened Mar-C’s Interior Decorating.

A fan of baseball, Richard was an avid Brooklyn Dodgers fan. He was a NASCAR fan and supporter of the late Dale Earnhardt. A lover of the mountains, Richard enjoyed trips to Cherokee with his wife. He was a talented gardener and grew beautiful and elegant roses, even naming one for his granddaughter. Richard’s family was his greatest accomplishment and he was most proud of his children, grandchildren and great-grandchildren.

Surviving in addition to his wife, Martha is his daughter, Christine Marie Hill (husband, Bryon); seven grandchildren, Charles Richards, Desiree Richards, Allison Rissell, Daniel Goodrich, Alexandra Wilkins, Zachary Wilkins, Trinity Wilkins; eleven great-grandchildren, Logan, Ayva, Noah, Alek, Lia, Aynsle, Abel, Aria, Wylde, Iris, and Lennon. Also surviving are a brother, Al DeMeo and sister, Lisa DeMeo Squadere.
