

A sports enthusiast, Bob enjoyed baseball and football. Family men trips included Bob, his father, and brother Gary and their children attended Cubs game each year. An avid football fan, Tom Brady was his favorite football star and Bob was his biggest fan. His latest quest for adventure was to visit each football stadium in the US and although he had not fulfilled it, he had accomplished visiting many. His last road trip included Yellowstone National Park driving through Wyoming, Montana and Idaho, Mount Rushmore in South Dakota and The Devils Tower in Montana.
On Sunday, January 16, 1972, Bob and Carol were married. The same day, the Dallas Cowboys defeated the Miami Dolphins in Super Bowl VI and for years to come, anniversaries were spent on or around the Super Bowl.
Retiring in 2013, from Mettler Toledo, Bob and Carol were able to travel even more. Robert enjoyed his travels to Europe and was pleased that he was able to travel to each of the European countries. His favorite was Rome where he enjoyed several times.
Bob enjoyed listening to the music of the Beatles and Queen. Heather’s greatest memory of her father was when she was child and they would dance to the Beatles. Bob and Bill shared a love for going to the newest movies. His granddaughter Zoe softened his heart always and she was the light of his life.
Surviving in addition to his wife are his son, William “Bill” Dickson; daughter, Heather Jones (Steven); brother, Gary Dickson; sister, Sherry DeVerties; and grandchildren, Zoe Page Dickson, Gavin Sullivan,& Javion Sullivan. Robert was preceded in death by his daughter, Bree Ann Dickson.
A memorial service will be held at 2:00 p.m. on Wednesday, December 22, 2021 at Lee Funeral Home and Crematory.
