Mr. James was born in Loris, SC on January 20, 1943. Raised on a farm in the tiny community of Mt. Vernon, he was the son of the late Leamon Dewey James, Sr. and Ina Harris James. This is where he met his bride of 55 years, Linda, who was the love of his life.
Mr. James moved to North Myrtle Beach in 1967 and started James Plumbing Company. He and his wife ran the business for 39 years before retiring in 2006 to hand the business to his daughter and son-in-law. A true local of North Myrtle Beach, he was known for his hard work ethic and honesty on the beach.
When he was not working, he was involved in supporting the local ball teams through the city and high school. He enjoyed fishing, watching his USC Gamecocks and Atlanta Braves. You often would find him in the stadiums cheering his two favorite teams on or watching them on TV. He loved his church family and was a member at River of Life Baptist in Sunset Beach, NC.
Mr. James will be remembered for the love he had for his wife, kids, and grandchildren. His strong faith in the Lord carried him many years to overcome obstacles after his stroke in 2006. His wife Linda was his faithful caregiver and was until the very end. We certainly will miss Papa, but we take great comfort in knowing he is with his maker Jesus and in glorious heaven.
Survivors include his wife Linda; daughter Tawanna (James) Boyers of Little River, SC; son Ladd (Michelle) James of Columbia, SC; his grandchildren who he adored, Anna-Austin Elisabeth Boyers, Anderson James Boyers, Garrett Alexander James, Rhett William James; three brothers, Leamon Dewey James, Jr., and wife, Barbara of Florence, SC; Herman Paul James and wife, Shelba of Loris, SC; and Bobby Reynolds James and wife, Judy of Goose Creek, SC; two sisters-in-law Carol James of Conway, SC; and Hester James of Loris, SC; and many nieces and nephews.
