Robert Poempner

Robert P. Poempner, age 85, of Longs, South Carolina, passed away peacefully at his residence on Wednesday, November 22, 2023. Born on October 18, 1938 in Irvington, New Jersey, he was the son of the late Phil Poempner and Evelyn Rheem.

He is survived by his daughters, Susan O’Brien and her husband, James, of Edison, New Jersey, Kathi Owens of Longs, South Carolina; grandchildren, Kelli along her wife, Rene, Ashley, Staci, Bobby, Jodi, Harley; great-grandchildren, Lily, Mila, Leo, Peyton, Raegan. He was preceded in death by his parents, his beloved wife of 63 years, Barbara Poempner, along with his two sons, Robert Poempner Jr. and Richard Poempner.

Robert was employed by Ciba Geigy Corporation where he worked as a machinist. Robert had a true passion for music. He was the lead guitar player and singer in two different bands for numerous years. Still keeping busy after retirement Robert did several side jobs in construction and carpentry. After years of living and working in New Jersey, Robert and Barbara decided to relocate to South Carolina and enjoy life on the coast. Roberts’s most important pride and joy was his family, especially his beloved grandchildren.
