Robert F. Stark

Bob was born March 10, 1954 in Albany, NY, to the late Frederick and Illean Stark. Raised in Albany, Bob attended Vincentian Institute class of 1972 and Hudson Valley Community College.

He married Vanessa O’Brien on September 14, 1974 at St. Patrick’s Church in Verplanck, NY.

They retired to Little River, South Carolina.

He worked in communications for the Albany County Civil Defense.

He then became an Albany County Deputy Sheriff on road patrol.

He continued his career in law enforcement and joined the Albany NY Police Department, from which he retired after a total of 17 years in police work.

He was a member of the Knights of Columbus council in Albany New York.

He had a love of nature, science, and fishing. As well as so many camping trips with dear friends and their children!

His greatest joy and happiness was his extended family. Telling jokes and playing pranks.

Bob was the beloved husband to Vanessa ( O’Brien ) Stark, devoted father to Christopher P. Stark, ( Jennifer Bowers ) of Wake Forest, NC and Patrick J. Stark, ( Amanda Henry) of Latham, NY.

Cherished grandfather of Johnathan (Rachel Van Horne) and Emily Stark, of Wake Forest, NC and Caroline and Charlotte Stark, of Latham, NY. His sister, Barbara Durrick; his brother-in-law, Bud Delany; and his sister-law, Connie Stark; along with his many dear nieces and nephews on both sides of their extended families.

He was predeceased by his late brother, Donald Stark of East Hartford Connecticut; his sister, Janet Delany of Slingerlands NY; as well as his brother-in-law, David J. Durrick, (his partner in crime, LOL!) His niece, Susan Vincek and his cherished nephews, David J. Durrick, Jr. and Darryl O’Brien.

Also his life long dearest friends, Gordon and Mary Chris Mclean, David and Linda Weaver, Paul Bickel and his late wife Mary Ellen; Georgia Sullivan and her late Husband Mark; Ed and Marlene Lucas.

The family would like to thank the nurses Hannah and Cynthia from McCloud Palliative Care and Hospice units for all the support and advice they gave us!

A Prayer Service will be held at 1:00 PM on November 24, 2026 at Lee Funeral Home and Crematory, 11840 Hwy 90 Little River, SC 29566.
