Robert Richard Turkall

Robert Richard Turkall retired at the young age of 55 from the Cleveland Growers in downtown Cleveland, Ohio, where he dedicated many years of hard work. He found joy on the waters of Lake Erie, spending countless days boating and fishing. With his early retirement, he had the opportunity to fully embrace the life he loved. He relocated to Myrtle Beach, South Carolina, where he lived in a beachfront condo. He enjoyed relaxing on the beach with friends, traveling, and tearing up the dance floor with his beloved wife Mary Lou. After several years, he set up permanent residence in Longs, South Carolina. He became a member of Valorous Church, where Pastor Clay and the church community quickly became an important part of his life. Whether he was golfing, meticulously caring for his yard, or taking his spoiled dachshund, Autumn, on her daily golf cart rides, Bob appreciated life’s simple pleasures. One of his favorite ways to end the day was enjoying an ice-cold beer with his neighbor and best friend, Brian Zolna.

Bob was preceded in death by his parents, Margaret (Molnar) Turkall and Thomas Turkall.

He is survived by his beloved wife, Mary Lou Ambrose; his children, Tammy (Robert) Szalay and Richard (Audrey) Turkall; his stepchildren, Joseph Ambrose, Denise (Bret Thomas) DeGaetano, and Donnie Ambrose; his grandchildren, Garret (Angela) Szalay, Weston (Rachel) Szalay, Brinley Szalay, Kaila Ambrose, Julia DeGaetano, and Jenna DeGaetano; his great-grandchildren, Patrick Ambrose, Dominick Ambrose, and Leo Szalay; his siblings, Thomas (Sharon) Turkall, Gary (Sandi) Turkall, Michelle (Peter) Nakavich and his closest friend Brian Zolna.

Bob will be deeply missed by his family, friends, and anyone who had the pleasure of spending time with him.

A small church service will be held on Wednesday, July 29th, 2026, at 11:00 am at Valorous Church, located at 2100 Firetower Rd, Little River, SC. After the service a catered lunch will be held. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to the church.
