Robert Matthew Woody, Sr., born on May 22, 1934, in Washington, D.C., passed away peacefully at home surrounded by his family on November 5, 2025, at the age of 91. He was a resident of Longs, South Carolina, and a former resident of Edgewater, Maryland.
Robert, known to his friends as Bob or Woody, was preceded in death by his mother, Nannie Gertrude Woody; his father, Robert Lee Woody; his sister, Gloria (Patsy) Brown; and his daughter-in-law Pam Woody (wife of Bobby).
He is survived by his beloved wife, Dolores (Dee) Hill Woody of Longs, SC; his three sons, Stephen (Steve) Woody (Cheri Woody) of Raleigh, NC, Robert (Bobby) Woody, Jr. of Edgewater, MD, and Larry Woody (Mary Woody) of Edgewater, MD; his former wife, Jane Woody of Edgewater, MD; and his sister, Joyce Garris of Fredrick, MD. Bob is also survived by many grandchildren, great-grandchildren, and great-great-grandchildren.
Bob was a man of strong values, deep faith, and unwavering love for his family. He believed in doing things the right way. He worked for George’s TV Repair for more than 20 years before joining Kodak, where he later retired. He was a proud member of Camp Swamp Church, where his faith remained a steady and guiding force in his life. Bob also found friendship and community as a member of The Elks Lodge, The Kiwanis Club, and The Corvette Club of Annapolis.
A lifelong enthusiast of cars, trains, and the open road, Bob found joy in traveling—especially when shared with those he loved. A true handyman, he was the person everyone called because he could fix just about anything and never settled for “good enough.” He loved spending time in his woodworking shop, creating beautiful pieces for family and friends. His meticulous craftsmanship touched every project and every part of his life.
In 2010, Bob married the love of his life, Dee Woody. Together they built a blended family, and Bob always treated Dee’s children as his own. They lived in Edgewater, MD, until they moved to Longs, SC, where he developed a love of golf. Their years together were filled with laughter, adventure, and countless memories—from roller skating and line dancing to cruising in their Corvette and playing cards with friends. Bob loved relaxing in the garden, watching hummingbirds and other birds live in the birdhouses he built. He also cherished his beloved dog, Rocky, who joined him on many long walks.
Bob will be remembered for his kindness, his steady hardworking hands, his laughter, and his deep love for family and friends. His life was a reflection of care, craftsmanship, and joy—and his memory will continue to inspire all who knew him. We will carry his love, lessons, and legacy with us always.
The family would like to extend heartfelt thanks to the nurses and staff at Lower Cape Fear LifeCare for their compassion and guidance in helping Bob and his family experience a peaceful passing.
