Born on November 21, 1942, to Dorsey and Flossie Irene Cox, Rosa was also lovingly raised by her grandmother, Lundy, whose steady presence helped shape the grace, strength, and warmth she carried throughout her life.
At just 15 years old, she met the love of her life, William Boyd Brigman. They quickly became inseparable, and in 1961, they married, beginning a beautiful love story that would span more than six decades. Together, they built a life centered on love and family, raising three daughters who were, without question, the center of their world.
Rosa was a successful small business owner for many years throughout the North Myrtle Beach area, and her natural eye for design and fashion left a lasting impression. She was the epitome of a classy Southern lady, known for her beauty, her kindness, and her signature red lipstick. A true Southern sweetheart, she was not only a devoted mother, but also a trusted confidant and best friend to her daughters, Donna (Larry Pergerson), Pam (Brian Hagerty), and Jackie (Jim Blevin). She also shared a special and cherished bond with Carolyn, the sister she never had and a dear sister-in-law, and she adored her beloved Shih Tzus, Abby and Jackson.
She was a loving Nana to Rachel Horton (Brandon), Emily Swing (Ian Maynard), and a proud great-grandmother to her three great-grandsons, Will, Jack, and Anderson, along with the newest blessing, a granddaughter, Palmer Leigh, just two weeks old and already so loved.
Rosa was strong, loyal, sincere, and faithful—a woman whose love was steady, generous, and enduring. Rosa is now reunited with those she held so close to her heart, including her father and mother; her beloved grandmother, Lundy; her stepmother, Dorothy Cox; her stepbrother, Tommy McClelland; her wonderful in-laws, Marvin and Juanita Brigman; her precious sister-in-law, Priscilla “Cil”; her cherished furry companions—Gladys, Will, Merry, Shooter, and Lucy; and especially the love of her life of 62 years, her Honey, Bill, who truly welcomed her with open arms, that twinkle in his eye and a big smile—Oh, what a beautiful, heavenly reunion it must have been, bringing her girls comfort in knowing they are together again.
The family will hold a private memorial in loving honor of Rosa, respecting the wishes of both her and her beloved husband, Bill.
