Rose M. (Yuskavage) Drobish, age 70, died peacefully at home surrounded by family in Little River, South Carolina on November 27, 2016 after a courageous battle with cancer. Rose was born on April 5, 1946, in White Haven, Pennsylvania to the late Edward and Agnes Yuskavage.
She attended St. Patrick’s Elementary School in White Haven, Pennsylvania and was a 1964 graduate of Crestwood High School in Mountain Top, Pennsylvania. After graduation, Rose worked at both Dana Perfumes and Eberhard Faber in the Crestwood Industrial Park. In 1991, she graduated from Luzerne County Community College with her Registered Nurse (RN) degree. Upon graduation, she began working at Geisinger Wyoming Valley Hospital in Wilkes-Barre, Pennsylvania on the Medical/Surgical unit of the 5th floor. Rose loved being a nurse, and while the work was hard and tiring, caring for her patients was one of her greatest pleasures. After leaving hospital work, Rose found her true calling in caring for patients with rheumatoid arthritis at the John Heinz Rehabilitation Center.
In order to escape the Pennsylvania winters and enjoy retirement, she and her husband of 37 years, Thomas Drobish, moved to Little River, South Carolina in 2007. Rose took up golf, spent countless days lounging on Cherry Grove beach or at the pool, tending to her roses, playing Bunko, and participating in book club with the many neighbors and friends she accumulated after her move. A devout Catholic, Rose was also a member of Our Lady Star of the Sea Catholic Church in North Myrtle Beach, SC.
Rose lived life to the fullest and anyone who knew her can definitely attest to her bright smile, fun spirit, caring heart, witty sense of humor, and infectious laugh. She is survived by her husband Thomas, daughter Amy Wheless and son-in-law Michael, son Mark Dotter, sister Andrea Miller and husband Donald, sister Carol Ramsey and husband John, her trusty companion Molly the dog, her grand-cat Grady, several cousins, and countless friends.
A memorial service will take place at Lee Funeral Home and Crematory in Little River, SC on Saturday, December 3rd at 10:00 am. A funeral Mass of Christian Burial will take place at St. Jude’s Catholic Church in Mountain Top, PA at a later date.
