
Sarah Lloyd Dixon Ariail passed peacefully at CMC Pineville on April 25, 2017 in Charlotte, North Carolina at the age of 87 surrounded by family.
Sarah is preceded in death by her husband of 55 years, William ”Bill” S. Ariail and brother, Charles Carlisle Dixon, of Mooresville, North Carolina. She is survived by daughter; Mollie Berkeley and her husband Alex, of Charlotte, North Carolina; daughter Betsy Hutchinson, of Spartanburg, SC, her six grandchildren Sarabeth Berkeley Hudson, Will Berkeley, Ariail Berkeley Buntyn, Jeb. Berkeley, Bright Hutchinson, and Nick Hutchinson, and eleven great-grandchildren.
Sarah was born December 11, 1929 in Mullins, South Carolina. Sarah graduated from Mullins High School, attended Queens College in Charlotte, NC and graduated from the University of South Carolina as a member of the Pi Beta Phi Sorority with a degree in Education. She taught in the public schools of Florence, SC, Louisburg, NC, and Greensboro, NC for a total of 22 years. After retirement, she moved to coastal South Carolina. She was a longtime member and trustee of the Little River United Methodist Church and President of the Methodist Women. She enjoyed the last 8 years living in Matthews, NC as resident of the Plantation Estates Retirement community.
A graveside service is scheduled for Saturday April 29th, 2017 at 3:30 pm at Little River Methodist Church. The family will be receiving friends at the Ariail residence after the service.
