Stephanie Scott Wingfield, 50, of Myrtle Beach, SC, passed away on January 22, 2025, after a courageous battle with liver cirrhosis. Born on November 23, 1974, in Danville, VA, she was a strong, resilient, and spunky woman who loved her family dearly.
She is survived by her loving husband, James Wingfield; her daughter, Maddy Snyder; and her cherished grandchildren, Axel and Arya Snyder. She also leaves behind her stepsons, Dennis, David, and Daniel Wingfield; her parents, Johnnie Scott I and Ann Scott; her twin brother, Johnnie Scott II; her younger brother, Michael Scott; and her paternal grandmother, Clara Clark. She was preceded in death by her maternal grandmother, Helen Wertz, and her paternal grandfather, Gilford Clark.
Creative at heart, Stephanie found joy in making artsy things, from homemade greeting cards to bookmarks, always adding her personal touch to everything she created. She loved spending time in her garden, soaking up the sun, and winding down with her favorite TV shows—especially old Westerns. She also had a soft spot for birds, collecting decor and enjoying their presence in her home and garden.
A proud graduate of Danville Community College, she earned her degree in Administration of Justice in 2001 with a 3.9 GPA. One of her greatest accomplishments was achieving nearly a decade of sobriety from alcohol, a testament to her strength and perseverance. Life wasn’t always easy, but she faced it head-on with determination and a fearless, unapologetic spirit. She was never afraid to speak her mind and stand her ground, embracing life on her own terms.
Faith was an important part of Stephanie’s life, and she was a devoted Christian. Though there will be no formal funeral service, her family will honor her life in a private burial.
Above all, she loved her family fiercely. The memories she leaves behind—filled with love, laughter, and lessons in strength—will live on through those who knew and loved her.
