

Terry L. Bires, 72, of Ocean Isle Beach, NC formerly of Manheim, PA unexpectedly but peacefully passed on, surrounded by family, to his eternal resting place in Heaven on Monday, November 27, 2023 at McLeod Seacoast Hospital, Little River, SC.
Terry was a loving, caring husband to Jonita (Dutt) Bires for nearly 50 years, and always had a very generous heart supporting family, friends, and neighbors.
He was born in Lancaster, PA on May 23, 1951. Son of the late Richard and Charlotte (Hoffer) Bires.
He was a 1969 graduate of Manheim Central High School, having played football, baseball, and track, and a graduate of Bloomsburg University.
He started his career at Schilling Electric, then Raybestos in Manheim in accounting and finance. Most of his career was spent with Campbell Chain (aka Cooper/Apex Tools) as factory manager, successfully leading the company using both his accounting/business expertise, as well as his exceptional people skills.
He volunteered at Junior Achievement, teaching business skills to children.
He was a member of St. Paul’s United Church of Christ, Manheim.
Terry loved his retirement time, spending his days relaxing at Sunset Beach, NC.
He also greatly enjoyed collecting baseball cards and sports memorabilia, listening to and attending Jimmy Buffett concerts, and watching his childhood favorite TV shows, including Westerns, The Three Stooges, and The Marx Brothers.
He was a dedicated coach for his sons’ soccer and baseball teams, including Royals (community league champion team), Penryn, and Manheim Lions (Lancaster NewEra league championship team).
He loved taking trips to the Caribbean with his wife, as well as a special family trip with all of his kids and grandkids to Jamaica in April 2021.
He thoroughly enjoyed watching his kids’ and grandkids’ various sporting and school events.
In addition to his wife, Terry (Grandpa T) is also survived by two sons: Corey Bires (Anna), & Casey Bires (Bobbi). Three grandchildren: Savannah, Mason, and Brielle.
A brother, Larry Bires & his fiancé Kim Wissler. In-laws, Jan & Candy Dutt, and Joan & Jay Hess.
A memorial service will begin at 3:00 p.m. Sunday, December 10, 2023 at St. Paul’s UCC, 50 North Main St. Manheim PA 17545. Visitation with the family will be from 2-3 pm at the church.
The family suggests memorial contributions be made to St Paul’s UCC, or the Manheim Athletic Association, PO Box 385, Manheim PA 17545.
