

Thomas David Dytrych, age 73, of North Myrtle Beach, South Carolina, passed away on Tuesday July 8, 2025. Tom was born in South Bend, Indiana, and was raised in Chicago. He graduated from St. Ambrose University in 1973. He then joined his family in North Palm Beach, Florida, and followed his fondness for golf course maintenance attending Lake City Community College where he graduated in 1982 with a degree in golf course operations. He relocated to Williamsburg, Virginia, following his graduation where he began working at the Golden Horseshoe Golf Course as an Assistant Superintendent. He continued to follow this passion for the outdoors and golf course operations while living in Virginia, Florida and eventually South Carolina.
Tom is survived by his partner of 43 years, Claudette and son, Shaun; his mother, Elaine Dytrych; his brothers, Richard Dytrych (Mary) and Martin Dytrych (Tesa); his nieces, Jennifer and Tracy; and nephews, Terrence, Marty Jr., and Andy. He was predeceased by his father, Richard Dytrych; sister, Nancy O’Sullivan; and brothers, Daniel Dytrych and Terrence Dytrych.
Tom’s optimistic outlook was inspiring to those around him. He was always willing to lend a helping hand to those in need, was quick to give you a smile, and to let you know that everything would work out in time. Beyond his devotion to family and a long and fulfilling career as a Golf Course Superintendent his lifelong unwavering support of his beloved Notre Dame Fighting Irish was evident as he found joy cheering them on. Tom was a true animal advocate; his heart overflowed with compassion as he cared for strays providing them with good homes. His upbeat outlook and personality and his desire to help anyone he met in need were truly a blessing in today’s world. He will be greatly missed by his family and friends.
