Wallace W. Morse, 79, passed away on Friday, January 19, 2024 at Grand Strand Regional Medical Center. He was surrounded by his family, including his wife Elaine and his two daughters, Jennifer and Kimberly.
Wally was born in Metuchen, NJ on February 9, 1944 to Adelbert and Winifred Morse. He joined the Army after a brief stint in college, and he received his National Defense Service Medal. Following his honorable discharge, he went on to Rutgers University and received a B.S. in Marine Biology.
On June 8, 1969, Wally married Elaine Bopp in Avenel, NJ. They moved to Bayville, NJ where they raised their daughters. Wally worked for NOAA in Sandy Hook, NJ and the family built a great life together. Wally did his own home remodeling and woodwork, even building a wooden canoe at one point. The family took annual vacations that included destinations like Lake George, NY and Myrtle Beach, SC. It was during one of these vacations that Wally and Elaine chose Little River, SC as their retirement destination.
Wally retired from NOAA in March 2000. Elaine and Wally moved south, and his passion for golf began. They began traveling the world with friends, taking trips to Greece, Costa Rica, Hawaii as well as several cruises. But Wally was always at his best when he was with his granddaughters, Sydney and Brooklyn. Those girls brought out the best in him and he loved his time with them. He could not have been more proud of their accomplishments and did all he could to encourage their dreams. He was greatly loved and will be deeply missed.
Wally is survived by his wife Elaine, his daughters Jennifer Perry and Kimberly Carroll (husband Chad) and his two granddaughters Sydney and Brooklyn Carroll.
