Wilbert Kenneth “Kenny” Rogers, Jr. died on August 5, 2020 after an extended illness.
Born on September 10, 1946, in Loris, SC, he was the son of the late Dr. Wilbert K. and Sarah Hardee Rogers.
Kenny completed his Bachelor’s degree at Wofford College and his Master’s degree at Appalachian State University. He served in the United States Army for five years. He worked in the hospitality industry as a vacation specialist and salesman. He enjoyed being with his family, working in his yard, and watching his grandchildren play sports. He was an avid Gamecock fan and enjoyed many years of supporting athletes through the Gamecock Club. Most of all, he loved the Lord and his family and never missed the chance to tell them he loved them and was proud of them.
He is survived by his wife of 37 years, Doreen Duncan Rogers; a daughter Mylissa Rogers Bellamy (Chip); sons Chris Rogers (Diane) and Alex Rogers (Sarah); a brother, Bobby Rogers; and five grandchildren Will Bellamy, C.J. Rogers, Alyssa Rogers, Ethan White, and Madison Rogers. Kenny was preceded in death by a sister, Sally Hardee Bellamy, and grandson, Matthew Bellamy.
Due to COVID-19, the family will hold a private service on Saturday, August 8th, 2020. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Embrace Hospice House (Myrtle Beach) or Fostering Hope (Conway) in memory of Kenny.
