

William Joseph "Joe" Fredrick passed away August 12, 2021 after fighting leukemia and kidney disease. Joe was born in Plainfield, New Jersey and grew up in Westfield. He loved visiting his grandparents, Bill and Bea Fredrick, at their home in Nejecho Beach where he fished and caught soft-shelled crabs for his grandmother. Joe attended West Nottingham Academy, graduating in 1966. He continued his education at Elgin Community College and began his teaching career, working with special needs children at Carpentersville Elementary School. While continuing his education at Northern Illinois University in DeKalb, IL he met his wife to be Barbara (Fiesel). They married and decided to move to New Jersey where they bought their first home in Bay Head, just blocks from the ocean. He taught sixth grade Resource Room at Memorial Middle School in Point Pleasant Boro. Joe was an avid salt water fisherman. Early mornings were spent at the beach fishing for striped bass, then meeting up with his fishing buddies at the "Dunk" (Dunkin Donuts) to swap their fish stories. When summer came Joe and Barbara left in their motor home and traveled the United States and Canada. They made cherished memories and lasting friendships along the way.
Joe is predeceased by his parents, William and Alma Fredrick, aunt Jane Fredrick, grandparents William and Bea Fredrick, and in-laws Bill and Ruth Fiesel, sister-in-law Lynda Fiesel and infant niece Lily Mutter. His brother Jeffrey survives him. He is also survived by his beloved wife of 47 years Barbara; brothers-in-law Darrel and Douglas Fiesel (Julie), sisters-in-law Janis Williams (Larry) and Donna Mutter (Bob). He also leaves behind his cherished nephews and nieces: Matthew (Lindsey), Mark (Jessica), Dylan (Amber), and Laura Fiesel; Chase and Paul (Mariah) Fiesel; Nicole (Dan) Bushong; Will (fiance Renee) and Hope Mutter. There are also 12 great nieces and nephews and one great-great nephew who will soon be joined by a baby sister.
