

Born on March 28, 1928 in Penn Yan, New York, he was the son of the late Robert A. Miner and Mary L. (Fassett) Miner.
He leaves his wife of 73 years, Jane Mousseau Miner; daughter, Christa Meliti and husband Nick of Plattsburgh, NY; son, Scott D. Miner and wife Lorraine of Keeseville, NY; son, Michael D. Miner of Plattsburgh, NY; son, Jonathan C. Miner and wife Marta of Carolina Shores, NC; daughter, Melanie B. Holmes and husband Patrick of Peru, NY; 11 grandchildren; 18 great grandchildren and 2 great-great grandchildren.
He was predeceased by both his mother and father of Plattsburgh, NY; brother, Robert A. Miner, Jr. of Plattsburgh, NY and a sister, Ruth Bushey of Frankfort, NY.
William proudly served in the United States Marine Corps during World War II and the Korean War. He was the General Manager of the Grand Union in Peru, NY for 44 years before retiring. He served as a member of the school board for the Peru Central School System for numerous years. William was a member of the American Legion and Marine Corps League for many years. He was an avid stamp and coin collector his entire life. He loved metal detecting and enjoyed selling his goods at the Little River Flea Market.
William was a member of the St. Augustine’s Catholic Church of Peru, New York and Our Lady of the Star Catholic Church of North Myrtle Beach, SC.
A celebration of life will be held on November 27, 2023 at the Lee Funeral Home, in Little River, SC with an additional celebration of life in the spring in Peru, NY followed by a burial in the St. Augustine’s Cemetery.
