Born on April 15, 1946, in Pottstown, PA, Bill was the son of William Stinger and Norma (Ruther) Stinger. Raised in Graterford, PA, Bill attended Schwenksville High School, where he excelled as a multi-sport varsity athlete. His athleticism and leadership earned him a place on Wilkes College’s football team, where he proudly contributed to their historic 32-game winning streak—a legacy memorialized in Zeus and the Boys by George G. Pawlush. During his time at Wilkes, Bill met his soulmate, Nancy Charlene Wanczyk, with whom he shared 54 remarkable years of marriage.
Following his graduation in 1968, Bill answered the call to serve his country, enlisting in the United States Army and earning a commendable discharge in 1971. Balancing career ambitions with his role as a provider, Bill earned his Master of Business Administration from Widener College in 1979.
Bill’s career in the paper manufacturing industry brought his family to Marion, IN, and later to East Longmeadow, MA. A man of deep faith, Bill served as an elder at First Presbyterian Church of Marion and as a steward for the First Congregational Church of East Longmeadow. Known for his measured wisdom and thoughtful leadership, Bill was admired for his ability to lead with both heart and discernment, whether at work, in his community, or within his family.
In retirement, Bill and Nancy settled in North Myrtle Beach, SC, where they embraced an active and fulfilling life, and an adventurous global travel itinerary with their friends. Bill reignited his passion for athletics, competing in marathons and triathlons, while also cherishing his role as Nancy’s greatest supporter in her art career. Together, they traveled to galleries across the Carolinas and remained steadfast members of First Presbyterian Church Myrtle Beach.
Bill’s enduring legacy is one of integrity, service, and devotion. He was preceded in death by his beloved wife, Nancy, and his parents, William and Norma Stinger. He is survived by his sister, Sandra Ramsburg; his sons, Eric and Andrew Stinger; and his cherished grandchildren, Jackson and Brantley Stinger.
In lieu of flowers, the Stinger family invites donations to St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital, honoring Bill’s commitment to helping others.
A celebration of Bill’s life will be held on Friday, January 31, 2025 at 11am at Lee Funeral Home in Little River, SC, where friends and family will gather to honor his remarkable life and share in cherished memories.
